International New Wave Song Competition 2010

Take part in the International New Wave Song Competition 2010!

Now is your chance to sign up for the competition to choose the Finnish New Wave representative. If you are a 16 - 30 year old singer, you can take your chance and send your demos to the Finnish office of the competition by 31.3.2010.

New Wave is Europe’s largest pop song competition for young people, with the final to be held 28.7. - 1.8.2010 in the spa town of Jurmala, Latvia. New Wave and its many events offers young talented singers a unique experience and entry into the world of international entertainment.

18 singers from 15 different countries were chosen for last year’s 3-day final, which was watched live by over a hundred million viewers all over the planet. The winner will be awarded with a prize of US $50,000, with the runners up to receive US $30,000 and US $20,000. There are also many special prizes.

The winner of the competition will represent Finland in New Wave 2010. The winner’s travel and expenses will be paid for as well as necessary backing tracks.

Participation instructions

Competitors must provide the following material by 31.3.2010 at the latest:
- 2-4 demos containing their own songs (CD or mp3)
- A photograph (paper or jpg)
- Date of birth, address, email

The one chosen to take part in the competition will be contacted personally by 6.4.2010.

Rules at the Jurmala Final

- Competitor age range is 16 - 30
- Final takes place in Jurmala 28.7 - 1.8.2009
- Practice, interviews and TV-recordings begin 17.7.
- Working language is English
- Each finalist will perform 3 songs of a maximum of 3 minutes: an international hit, a Finnish hit, and one of their own songs. Finalists will bring their own backing tracks with them
- The panel of judges will be made up of leading international producers and record company representatives as well as well-known local and foreign singers
- The organizers will pay for the travel and expenses of the finalist and his/her manager or producer
